I was assigned to a child, whose play consisted of violent themes, and he occasionally would try to hurt his pet. He had to be with an adult during recess at school. I told this agency that his mother showered him with gifts, and every week he had a new expensive toy. I could not apply any behavioral therapy because she would give him whatever he wanted and never disciplined him. The mother found out what I said to the agency and got mad. Anyway, they never gave me another client after that. It was not hard to find another agency for work, but this child was not served. Maxim just collected the money from Medicaid and pacified the family.

At all costs do not waste your time as a nurse willing to serve in the community with Maxim!!! The recruiters are very unprofessional, lack effective communication skills, rude, and lack the knowledge to provide the very basic information regarding your potential patient and care. The recruiter in Sacramento CA, his name is Julio. The recruiter in the Emeryville CA, his name is Lee. Julio initially set up an onboarding orientation, and was to call me back for a second day for orientation. He never followed up! These two nursing recruiters are at the very bottom of the barrel! They have no clue regarding the patient! They need professional communication skills prior to communicating with the public. The onboarding process is absolutely backwards and ridiculous! I was informed that I would need to first attend an in person onboarding orientation for several hours. During the onboarding process I would receive the full report and care on my potential patient. Which agency does this????? No one does this because the process is backwards!! I have 44 years of nursing experience, hospital and home care experiences. I have always received full reports on my patients prior to moving forward and acceptance on a case. They put you through a lot of unnecessary drama, and not even bare minimum information regarding your patient! The patient is what the agency needs to focus on and provide adequate information to the nurse on the behalf of the patient. Every question you have, their answers were usually, “I don’t know.” The recruiter Lee, set a phone appointment with me at 2:30 PM. The arrangement was for him to call me. I was being courteous by waiting until 2:50 PM to call him. At this time I was informed he was at lunch!!! Hello??? Again, unprofessional, don’t care to waste your time!! If you don’t waste your time, certainly, don’t allow anyone else to do so!!!! After speaking with Lee about the patient, he said I will get back with you in a couple of weeks???? Keep moving forward, don’t waste your time with the bare minimum and lots of foolishness!! I would have provided a ZERO star unfortunately, the least is one star. I will notify the corporate office of this matter ASAP!

Gosh. Where do I even begin? Racist. Sexist. I had a home visit and all Dwight (white male presenting) saw was my skin colour. He then proceeded to grill me on matters having nothing to do with why he was there, which he'd never do to a man. I endured it, but upon reflection I called him to follow up and he reassured me that everything was okay from his perspective. I still couldn't get past the way I was treated in my own home, so i out a pin in the next visit to sort out my thoughts, feelings, and notes on the visit. I had my case worker switch the referral to another vendor. A little less than a week later, Maxim representation Christy/Christine or whatever name left the angriest voicemail on my phone saying that the service will be terminated and if I wanted to know why I should call her back. At this point, no longer interested in this service for quite a while, but let my curiosity get the best of me and called back immediately. What's her name had already blocked me I'm guessing because the calls didn't go through after trying for two days. I finally called their main line and left a message. She call back and proceeded to tell me that I was being denied services because I made comments about race and gender that made Dwight uncomfortable. My narrative: I asked for my preference of a culturally-competent lady for any future care, which is when I realized Dwight became... Well body language for "getting angry", he then further voiced that anger in tone when I said that it didn't matter to my multilingual family that the caretaker speaks English, to which Dwight responded abruptly, "well, I still need to communicate with her!". I'm also getting some xenophobic undertones here. Back to what's her name... She proceeded to get on her high horse about race and gender until I explained to her who I am, my identities, and how this claim makes no sense. She then did many things. Here are a few; - hiding behind her fragility and said I was yelling at her which wasn't true; - she wouldn't let me finish making my points whilst - she kept repeating like a child on a loop that I was still not getting any services (despite me having opened with that I was not pursuing it). I assume this was because there is no come back after realising the false accusations would not stick. This is how Maxim will try to beat you to the punch by having a white man claim racism and sexism before you do. Still too late. And shows that Dwight knew exactly what he was doing. What's her name promised to text me information for their integrity line which she never did.

On May 7th, I visited the Emeryville location to complete my I-9 form at 4:30 PM, as I had an early day at my primary job. I currently work under their umbrella company, Amergis, where I am a valued employee. During my visit, I explained my situation to the receptionist, who not only rephrased my words but added slang and Ebonics that did not reflect my actual speech. I felt that her response was discriminatory based on my race and appearance, including my facial and neck tattoos. I also observed her and her colleagues laughing, which further contributed to my discomfort. This experience left me with a negative impression of Maxim Healthcare, and I have decided not to pursue employment with them. I believe they have missed the opportunity to engage with a passionate and dedicated professional in this field.

My 5 year old eloped after the lock was removed on the window after respite was here. My son was found by police, had to go to hospital and I might be charged even though I wasn’t the one who put him to sleep
