I had a very positive experience with Gentle Touch Hospice when my friend was dying of advanced breast cancer. Her family was struggling to take care of her themselves; they didn't know that Medicare pays for 100% of the bill for hospice care. I told them about Gentle Touch, the patient and her family were thrilled to hear about this, the owner of the Hospice personally visited the patient in her home and explained to her and her family the services that Medicare pays for, AND the extra products and services his hospice provides at no extra cost! Gentle Touch delivered this fabulous, comfy lifting chair in addition to the adjustable bed, plus Groceries, personal hygiene products, massage, manicure and more. 24/7 caring nurses stayed by her side, everyone was so happy with Gentle Touch's services.

I’ve always heard hospice is supposed to be supporting and comforting with a compassionate touch. Interestingly enough you have to have people contact in order to feel support, comfort, and compassion. We can’t get any services we’ve asked for from Gentle Touch. What’s the point if all they are going to do is provide equipment?

This hospice company is great as long as the patient is never going to die. Hospice, should be the last term of your loved ones healthcare. This company was great until my father started to die ...then they had no clue what was going on. Not only were they unsupportive at the most critical time of need, their manager was actually yelling at me for being desperate for guidance with morphine they expected me to administer to my father. One of their nurses even suggested that I did not give my father the comfort care that he needed in his last days on this planet. She actually suggested that I just let him suffer through the pain, Incoherentness, and the unknowing of the dying process. If anybody should understand, It should be hospice. Dying is not easy. It is painful and it is frightening for the people that are passing. Comprehension of the dying process is so necessary. I was highly disappointed until they finally outsourced the hospice care to a nurse that had actually dealt with the dying process. Then I was no longer expected to give my father narcotics. Unless you’re a nurse this can create a lot of panic to give your dying loved one a drug such as morphine. I do not recommend this hospice company at all. Having a loved one passes is difficult enough without having your hospice manager yelling at you for needing help.
