For anyone who is exhibiting that "deer in the headlights" look as the hospital case manager calls to say your loved one is coming home in 3 hours on a Sunday (true story) I have a recommendation for you. The case manager has a list as long as your arm and you close your eyes and you say: "please pick for me someone you prefer for your family member". It worked! We are now receiving care from Valley Care Home Health. There are lots of good home health groups to be sure. I am happy with this one. Here are our two rockstars in case you need more info as you choose: The RN Maria is a great resource. She made sure my procedure for injections is still great. 😉 We love seeing her. Such a welcome visit! The physical therapist Tony V is outstanding as well. He taught my husband so many amazing pointers post-femur fracture and ORIF (open reduction internal fixation) surgery. Tony had me take videos of my husband and Tony during the exercises. He gave verbal instructions coupled with specific and useful critiques. Having videos will provide proof of progress as well as a reminder to the husband whose favorite phrase is: "I forgot". We hired caregivers from Home Instead who are great at encouraging my husband to perform the exercises. (Happy Wife, Happy Life only goes so far and we need a third objective team member to bond with him and be a firm mental health boost for him.) Medicare really comes through for us. (Some of my work was within the CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid) guidelines. I know that if you are in a homebound state after a surgery, but following your ongoing outpatient PT and OT and Speech therapy, you need to do one OR the other but not both. Ps Valley Care told us they do not provide Speech but you are allowed to attend it alongside home care if you have current physician orders. Once he can climb in the car, we will be back to post-stroke treatment. Give Valley Care a bookmark. We are very thankful for these two professionals.

Tried calling When I call .They should be open 24 hrs like other places in health care. If you call at night you will get an answering service who seems wierd and doesn't explain I think home health care should explain who they are and a service is provided and the office is open at 83am. OK thank you who they are. It's confusing...feeling like when you call you have the wrong number

While the people who shows up for home therapy are skilled, the whole organization of when you get service is questionable. They are not able to schedule you service more than one day at advance. Also, therapists might not show up. If you are not available to answer the phone the day before they plan to come, they will not show up. If they could have scheduled the next visit the day they are visiting you, it would make everything much easier. Then they simply stop communicating with you. This is not acceptable. My suggestion is that you stay away from this company because the organization of service is simply below bad. The therapists that showed up was great though. I think they are scheduling more patience than they can handle. The nurse Oscar is great though, even he did not follow up at the end either.

I had a major stroke and did not want a stranger coming into my house. I was skeptical about how much help they could give me. A nurse came in and gave me an evaluation and the next day my therapy started. The scheduling was the only issue I really had. I would get a call asking if they could come the next morning, but I had a doctor's appointment already scheduled. Oscar was amazing - a shining star in the group of helpers that I saw.

Incompetent and Disorganized My mother was referred to Valley Care Home Health after a fall. I left four messages for Cora (insurance 'specialist'...although she only seems to specialize in ignoring voicemails...) who never returned my inquiry and also ignored my mother's primacy care physician. It has not been 6 weeks since my mother's fall and she has not gotten the PT she desperately needs. Also, the receptionist is incompetent. When I advocate for my mother and ask the 'right' (difficult) questions about their services, she HUNG UP ON ME. Avoid Valley Care Home Health AT. ALL. COSTS.
