I've been wanting to write this review for years. It’s long overdue, but it’s finally time to share it. During one of the most difficult and unimaginable times in our world—the pandemic and its aftermath of 2021—my mom was turned away from almost every SNF because she tested COVID-positive. Bright Sky (IE), and especially Ms. Eleanor, were the only ones willing to welcome her. Redlands Community Hospital discharged her despite her needs. She had been in isolation, lost her strength and mobility, and we felt completely overwhelmed. As a nurse, I understood how complicated everything was during that time, but it didn’t make the experience any less heartbreaking. Bright Sky was the one place that stepped forward when no one else would. Even later, when insurance issues prevented payment, and I had to bring my mom home on hospice, Ms. Eleanor never stopped supporting us. She stayed calm, kind, and compassionate, and made sure hospice care, supplies, and equipment continued without interruption. I doubted my ability to care for my mom at home. We had a complicated relationship and had been estranged for years. No judgement, since some of our most important relationships are the most difficult...And truly—no matter how close you are with someone—caring for a loved one during illness and end of life is never easy. It brings up emotions, memories, and sometimes old wounds. Even with years of nursing experience, I still felt completely unprepared. But Ms. Eleanor encouraged me. She gently reminded me that the blessings we cannot see in the moment often reveal themselves later. And she was right. To be honest, I'm sure I was short with her, clearly she didn't understand MY situation ..as my own stress, fears and frustration showed up..my sincere apologies because you were completely right.... My husband, young daughters, and I came together and cared for my mom until her final breath. In the middle of this incredibly painful time, something beautiful happened. We found grace, peace, and healing—both for my mom and for our relationship. I never expected that, but it has stayed with me ever since. God..thank you for knowing what I needed and gifting me that in this lifetime. I will always be grateful for Ms. Eleanor and the entire Bright Sky team. Their kindness, courage, and compassion made all the difference when we needed it most.
