In December 2024, my wife was enrolled in hospice care with American River Hospice, Sacramento, where we were assigned a wonderful and dedicated care team. Among them was Annette, our home aide, whose presence and support made a profound difference during one of the most difficult times in our lives. Annette visited our home twice per week to help my wife with bathing, hair washing, teeth brushing, and dressing. These tasks, though routine, became increasingly distressing for my wife due to the advanced stages of dementia. She was often confused, frightened, and anxious. However, Annette brought not only skill and efficiency to her work but also a remarkable level of patience, gentleness, and kindness that comforted my wife in ways words can hardly describe. Despite the fear and confusion my wife felt around bathing, Annette’s calm and reassuring manner helped her feel safe. Her presence had a lasting, calming effect that extended well beyond the end of each visit. She treated my wife with respect and dignity, always speaking to her with warmth and encouragement. After each session, my wife would often remain more relaxed and at ease for the rest of the day. Annette also went above and beyond in providing me, as caregiver, with valuable advice on home care products, reviewing our supply needs, and patiently answering our many questions. Her support did not end with her scheduled visits—it was ongoing and heartfelt. In April 2025 we made the decision to transport my wife back to our primary home in Wisconsin to be with the rest of our family. Annette stayed in touch during this emotional transition, sending messages of encouragement and reassurance, reminding my wife that she was special and loved. These gestures of kindness meant more to us than I can fully express. After my wife’s passing on May 13, 2025, Annette reached out with messages of sympathy and continued to share kind words and memories of my wife in the months that followed. Her ongoing thoughtfulness and empathy have touched me deeply. We have experienced hospice care in both California and Wisconsin, and while all the teams have been excellent, no aide has come close to matching the extraordinary compassion, presence, and professionalism of Annette. She is truly one of a kind—a rare caregiver whose work is guided by genuine love and respect for those she serves. We will forever be grateful for her. With heartfelt thanks, Bob and family

I just want to share my incredible recovery experience after my hip replacement surgery. I want to give kudos to the team that was assigned to help me this past month. My nurse was Theresa, physical therapist was Boris and occupational therapist was Jay. All three were amazing and I don’t think my recovery process would have been as quick as it has been had it not been for their presence, their encouragement, and their ability to listen to me when I expressed concern over certain things I felt were hurdles and they helped me to overcome those fears. I am three weeks post surgery and am feeling absolutely incredible. Thank you for all that you do!

Suzanne and Kate, Physical therapists from American River Home care, both worked with my elderly Dad after his discharge from a nursing home. Suzanne worked with him on his balance and his walking. Was really amazing to witness the results! He is walking better than he has in a couple of years and has improved balance. Kate worked with him on rehabilitating his fractured wrist. His function is almost back to where it was prior to his fall. Both Kate and Suzanne were incredibly patient, kind and understanding with my Dad. They knew when and how to push him when he was resistive to the exercises. So professional. I would not hesitate to use them again if the need arises.
