Although the individual caregiver assigned to my Mom was exceptional, in my experience Gateway Hospice is by and large a Medicare-grab. If your relative has the gall to outlive expectations, they get dropped from the program with very little notice and limited opportunity to plead otherwise. Then, as a practical matter, any Gateway-recommended equipment that you are using, such as a hospital bed, wheelchair, walkers, etc., is summarily removed from the patient, again with very little notice and with absolutely no effort to coordinate the return of those items so that they can be replaced (at patient expense, of course). If your loved-one is actively dying, I have no doubt that Gateway’s services can be of benefit. If on the other hand their health is deteriorating at a somewhat less predictable rate, steer clear of these services lest you run the risk of Gateway and Medicare suddenly deciding that your loved-one isn’t really dying after all. Their ‘compassion’ lasts only as long as the Medicare funds are authorized.

STAY AWAY!!! If you or a loved one needs home health, keep looking--this is the WORST EVER! Between my late mother, my dad and my step-dad, we have had several home health agencies over a 12 year span of time. We understand the way the process works, we understand what to expect, what Medicare pays for, etc. Gateway makes it's own rules, and they don't tell you until you are committed to them. To start--my step-dad just returned home to assisted living after a long stint in rehab following a shattered elbow. His requirements were not so different than he has had in the past. 1. He needed nursing to follow orders from a wound care specialist. They didn't have an RN so sent an LPN. Wound care at the level he requires was out of her scope of practice, and additionally she was rude and neglectful. Her name was Melissa, and we had to get her fired from our case. 2. A full week after his intake, no therapists had shown up. He was to get speech therapy (to help with a new swallowing disorder), OT and PT. When I complained to the director (Marie) I was told first of all, they had no OT on staff--they had been unable to hire one but were working on it. And most disheartening--PT comes and evaluates then leaves a care plan for family to follow. WHAT?? No one in this family is trained, we are all afraid of hurting him and every home health agency sends PT 3 x a week when it's ordered. Marie LIED and tried to tell me that insurance guidelines changed and they don't pay for that anymore. I spoke to 2 agencies and they both said Marie lied. Our new agency is sending PT 3x a week. I don't know what kind of company these guys are running, but it is NOT home health! Don't sign up with them!!!!

Whenever my business can’t take a referral, we love to send patients to Gateway Home Health. We know they will always take excellent care of the people we send their way. Special shout-out to Regina Asuncion, Account Executive, who follows patients throughout their plan of care, making sure they get everything they need in order to have a full recovery. I highly recommend Gateway!

Gateway home health really helped my family! this was very new to us but they communicated and followed through with my mom and our family. They helped us get her medications under control and helped us get a shower bench and walker as well. I really appreciate all their staff and clinicians. Thanks!!!

My grandma recently feel and fractured her hip and it seemed like our world got turned upside down until we met Regina at Gateway. She was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions -which were a lot because we have never used home health before. Over the next two weeks, she was very generous with her time and she never rushed us which helped my family and I feel calm and reassured that we were in good hands. She also put us in touch with a great non skilled company and a PCP that could come see my Grandma in her home. We were happy to have met her and would highly recommend Gateway!
