I was referred here by another parent. This is the THIRD Parent CNA HH agency that has brought harm to my profoundly disabled, medically fragile child. I contacted them last week and they texted me back, I missed that text. In between me calling and them texting me back, I had a terrible interaction with some other special needs moms in a Facebook group. I do not know these moms, I’m just in a group with them. In this Facebook group, I cautioned them about an agency who did something really terrible to MY CHILD which was to take me, her mom, off the schedule because I told them I was going to leave for another agency. That’s all. We’d had an disagreement over **reasonable disability accommodations** that I requested and was DENIED. I felt betrayed, and I told them that and said I’d go elsewhere. The agency owners response to me saying “I feel betrayed, I’m going to go elsewhere,” was this: “Well, I’ll just take you off the schedule now. You have until this date and then I’m taking you off the schedule.” I told him that was not yet onboarded by another agency, despite having turned in an application three weeks prior to being “taken off the schedule”. He DIDN’T CARE. And he was fully aware that I am the sole provider for my daughter, and without income, we can’t survive. Facebook group moms proceeded to get angry with me and tell me “there must be something more to the story, because that doesn’t sound like the Mr. Agency Owner that I know”. Excuse you? So now I’m a liar? NOPE. I lost my temper and cussed them out. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The mom who referred me to About Kids proceeded to gossip about my interaction with the moms on Facebook WITH About Kids, and when I contacted them today, they said they “aren’t going to proceed” with onboarding me. I have never even spoken to these people on the phone. I’ve texted ONE of them once or twice, and they’re basing their entire opinion of me on what some other MEAN GIRL special needs mom has said about me, after she witnessed a trauma reaction brought on by MEAN GIRLS on Facebook that had me upset and crying for literally hours. See, I’m not like most people. I have cPTSD. Negative interactions with people, like people calling me a liar, and telling me there “must be something you’re leaving out” of a story about how I was wronged, puts me into survival mode and I enter fight or flight. In MY case I go into FIGHT, and I will pop off at the mouth a little bit, and cuss. That’s all. I don’t threaten or physically assault anyone. There is a biological basis for this. A re-wired nervous system from years of verbal, physical, and sexual abuse does that to a person. This is not simply me being a “Karen”. My anger isn’t a character flaw, it’s a protective measure for when I have a trigger or a flashback. You mess with my kid or call me a liar, you’re going to put me into fight mode, period. I CANNOT HELP IT anymore than a person with a broken bone can help their pain level. It just is what it is. And frankly, I’m sick to death of being **discriminated against** and judged by a society who knows nothing about the level and amount of abuse I’ve been through, and the cPTSD that interferes with all my interpersonal relationships, EXCEPT that with my non-verbal, profoundly disabled, medically fragile child, who THIS AGENCY has also FAILED by refusing to proceed with letting me apply for a job with them. I haven’t have a Parent CNA paycheck since 8/21, so, over a month now, and I thought they wanted to HELP me by getting me onboarded quickly, but now, they’ve just made me more angry than I was before by doing this to me… Note that my cPTSD is a protected disability under the ADA. I receive state benefits BECAUSE I’m disabled, and yet everywhere I go, people just act like I’m a witch. And I’m actually one of the kindest, most compassionate, empathetic people you’ll ever meet, so long as you don’t say something mean to me and trigger me. Women who gossip about other women who they don’t even know DISGUST ME. These people at AK DISGUST ME with their judgment and ableism. 😡

I’m giving two stars because some of the staff I met or talked to were really pleasant. But I’d like to leave this review with a note of caution to all special needs families. Do not be fooled into “we do two 30 minute sessions instead of one 60 minute session a week” I explained that my child is used to one 60 minute session, and I don’t understand how one could build rapport with my child in 30 minutes at a time. I was told by the director Lauren, that her staff is “very busy,” and she could “maybe” get us a 40 minute session. But possibly not in my time frames I needed. I left feeling like my child and I were an imposition. *** If your child has Medicaid, a provider is billed per session, not time spent. They will get paid the same amount whether they are with your child for 15 minutes or 1.5 hours. This company is much more interested in punching a meal ticket and working the system then they are for the well being of kids.

This place is terrible and should stopped be being referred. The therapist that had only been working with my daughter for all of 4-6 weeks maybe quit and gave them a two week notice. She notified me as well which was fine and told me they’d find her another therapist. They called after her last day and said they had no one and we’re dis-enrolling my daughter from therapy to put her on the wait list! Have you lost your mind?! She was already in therapy and now she’s going back onto the waitlist. No thanks! Not to mention it was a struggle to get updates on my daughter and her progress if there was any because I didn’t even have a clue what they we working on. This place is a nightmare and I DONT recommend!! Save your time families

We LOVE Kids Home Health Care! Stephanie, Aiden’s PT is incredible! She makes PT fun for Aiden! When she arrives, Aiden always has a smile on his face and hops right off the couch to begin PT with her. Like I said, she makes “work” FUN and Aiden doesn’t even realize it’s work, he sees it more like an hour of fun play time 😊 Thanks KHHC! Gracie L
