(This is related to care for a family member 5 years ago). I'll say that some aspects of the experience, like when I first called and inquired about finances/insurance, weren't great, and the first nurse who helped my family member was not warm, but once I asked for a switch in caregivers, it was an amazing experience. I would suggest that staff be highly trained and vetted in hospice care. Overall though, and especially when it mattered, the staff was warm, kind, attuned and supportive. I'm very grateful.

There are not enough words to capture the immense gratitude I have for everyone at the Connecticut Hospice. After suffering a severe hemorrhagic cerebellar stroke and spending time in the ICU at Yale-New Haven hospital, my father was transitioned to CT Hospice, where he passed away after a 5-day stay. While his stay was brief, it was very intense, and every single staff member, from the doctors to the nurses to the aides to the volunteers, treated us with loving care and sincere compassion. My mother and I felt deeply supported and respected, my father’s pain was managed carefully, and the beautiful room and surroundings overlooking the water gave us all a sense of peace and calm that we could not feel while we were at the hospital. My mother and I will forever be grateful to CT Hospice and for the way they allowed us to say goodbye to my father with love, dignity, and grace.

I am truly grateful for the care and compassion shown by everyone at Connecticut Hospice. From the moment we arrived, the staff treated my mother, and our entire family with such kindness, dignity, and respect. Their support during such a difficult time brought us comfort and peace. Every nurse, aide, and staff member we encountered was not only professional but genuinely caring. Everything about CT Hospice was wonderful — the serene environment, the attentiveness, and the emotional support. I will always be thankful for the way they helped us say goodbye with love and grace.

The process once Connecticut Hospice stepped in was phenomenal. I live out of state and my father resided in an assisted living and each person I dealt with was kind, compassionate and articulate. The communication was constant. I honestly do not know how I could have handled the death of my elderly father without their care and support. Alicia, our nurse was probably the most competent and caring professional I have ever dealt with. Jennifer, the social worker, was also amazing. Alvin, a companion aide and Ocean were also great resources. I know Hospice may not be available to all and I am beyond grateful my father was the recipient of these incredible services. It would be amazing if all of our elderly loved ones could pass on with such grace and dignity with all of their needs being addressed. Thank you. (John Riley's family)

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Hospice. My Grandmother was here then 3 short weeks later my father. The kindness, caring and compassion they showed to not only our family but all the other patients was amazing. The fact that both my Grandmother and my dad were able to spend an entire day outside surrounded by family was the best part. No visitor limits if patient is brought outside. My dad was on oxygen and the nurses carried multiple tanks out to us so he could stay outside. Due to Covid only 4 people at a time can visit bedside BUT you can switch all day. And family is welcome to sleep there, they will bring you a cot or recliner. Also as long as pets are up to date on vaccines they are welcome to visit. In the middle of the night nurses were beyond quiet even when making rounds you barely heard them. The entire staff was so comforting in the most heartbreaking time.
