I’m very disappointed with my experience at HCP Home Healthcare Agency. I have two active insurance plans, both of which cover home healthcare services. However, the staff seemed unwilling to do the necessary verification or contact my insurance providers directly. A representative even told me that I “have too many insurances” and that I should call my own insurance companies to get authorization because “they need someone to pay them first.” This is completely inappropriate — verifying coverage and obtaining authorization is the agency’s responsibility, not the patient’s. Despite their lack of effort, I still took the initiative to contact both insurance companies myself, and each confirmed that no prior authorization is required under my plan. It feels like this agency simply doesn’t want to do the work or help those who truly need care. I expected professionalism and support, but instead received poor communication and unwillingness to assist.

HCP made the transition home with my son so easy. The director prioritized the shifts l needed help with most and filled in herself when needed. Our nurses were so sweet and loving to my son and made me feel comfortable leaving them in charge of his care. They supported my son and my family in such a way that we had the stamina to continue to fight and climb the recovery ladder. My son and my family wouldn’t be in the great place were in without the love and care from HCP. I couldn’t be happier with the service they provided.

I tried to set up a simple interview with a caregiver from HCP to meet with my dad for home care services. We had an appointment set up, but when I called to confirm the date, the company representative kept asking about our private insurance and how we were going to pay. I responded to say that we would have all that information for her when she visits. It was important to us to have the representative meet personally with my dad so he could decide the best options. The representative made it clear that it wasn't worth her time to visit for an interview unless we got her the insurance information. I told her we could even write her a check for the interview! In the end I cancelled the appointment. I couldn't believe this; all I wanted was a chance to meet with a company representative in my dad's presence to learn about their services. What kind of company is this?
