I had a need for an RN since I was sent home with a PICC line and a wound vac. The RN they sent me (Ruthie) would come in to my home and never wash her hands. She carried a small bottle of gingerbread scented hand sanitizer and she would use a tiny little bit on the tips of her fingers before she started working on me. I always wondered if she washed them after the last patient. She NEVER used my sink the whole time she was coming. Ruthie was completely uneducated in the procedures of changing bandages for the PICC under a sterile field. I had to remind her to put on gloves and a mask. With the wound vac, she would cut the sponge and take the piece she needed and then SAVE the remaining sponge for next time even tho every kit comes with a fresh, clean sponge. That's a good way to CAUSE an infection as I was trying to heal from infections. She performed as part of the PROBLEM when she was hired to be a part of the SOLUTION. I fired her after like the 3rd visit and she walked off, leaving my wound wide open, no bandages. Real professional.
