The service received for skilled home health in Illinois for my Mom over a 2-1/2 month period was not up to our standards. There was much lack of communication with me by both the individual nurse and the office. The company they hired to take blood work and urine was a disaster - it took two weeks for the blood work to be received by my Mom's doctor and the company didn't even bother picking up the urine sample the day of, so it was ruined and had to be done again after hounding them to actually pick it up the next day. They reduced the number of days of care without informing me, they kept saying they would change course of treatment and/or bring in a specialist, but it never happened, and she ended up in the hospital again. Did not seem like anyone cared.

Elara Caring Hospice in Des Plaines lacks caring, has poor staff along with not having the ability to properly prevent or treat pressure sores or any other issues for that matter. The hospice nurse Linda lacks any knowledge and compassion for her patients. In addition, she has no bedside manner and knows that the patient eventually will die and does not seem to care if it's sooner or later. All that nurse wanted to do is to keep someone doped up even when they weren't needing an opiate. She thought that all treatments should work in all cases no matter what the patient's needs were and never tried to fit the problem and resolution with the patient. I am sure she would never be able to exist in a hospital setting. find a different company. This one is not any good do not use them for hospice. I have worked with other hospice companies in the past and Elara Caring Does not measure up.

Caretaker ate my food & lied about doing it. Did not respect me & do things in my home. Resented me telling the way to do wash. She washed her jogging pants in my wash. Why? This service keeps harassing me. She put out little effort. Only wanted to know ; needed a caretaker still. This service should pay me for not good care.

Elara did a great job working with my Aunt while in hospice. Their care and concern went above and beyond. My sisters and I are very greatful for the help and understanding during this very emotional time. Thank you.

The nurse assigned to my grandma is already running 1 and 1/2 hour late. Our appointment for her to train me to administer antibiotics via IV was scheduled at 4 pm which already was later than the time assigned to take medicine. In addition to that, the nurse wasn't very polite and sounded angry on the phone when questioned why so late. I can understand up to 30 minutes to be late, but 1 hour and a half is simply ridiculous. More information: Just spoke with the nurse on call. After mentioning my complaint of the nurse running 1 hour and a half late, her reply could be summarized in 3 words: "suck it up" buttercup. She told me that all of their nurses come from Chicago (my grandma is in Gurnee, lake county. And that's not uncommon for them to run late. So if your parent is in need of life saving medication, don't count on them - they'll arrive... well, when it's too late. When I mentioned this scenario, the nurse just told me that things like that happen and there is nothing they can do about it. I told her that I'll look for another agency, to which she replied "tell us when you decide to that and I'm going to call the nurse off". I'm like what?! What about today's super late antibiotics shot?! Unbelievable!!!
