There was some staff that was very helpful, but some were not helpful. The patient was to be walked often. We mentioned the lack of care because he was only walked 2 or three times a day. After there was a complaint, he was walked every 1-2 hours, which helped in recovery. Also another patient was yelling for someone to help her for 2 hours while techs visited outside her door. Having been someone who was paralyzed & couldn’t move in a bed & having cared for an older stroke patient, I was concerned. I kept checking to see if someone would help, but they did not. So I stuck my head in the patient’s room to see what was wrong. She was needing help moving in the bed. I did go in & told her I would get someone to help her. When I did ask someone to help her I was told that I could not go into her room They said they check on her every 1-2 hours. I was then scolded by the nurse that I could not go into someone else’s room. Then do your job!!!

Service in room was terrible. Room looked like it was last done in the 50's. Total time there was never given regular medication. Even had medication from home was told not to take it. At 1 point glucose was over 320 needed insulin. Was told was not that high and had seen higher. Never got the insulin instead took metformin from home supply. Took several hours for level to stabilize after discharge. Dr who removed tube from kidney didn't want to wait for pain meds to be IV administered. Husband had to insist we wait. Nurse looked it up and told dr this was the only dose of pain meds she had had the whole time in hospital. Would not recommend any overnight stay at this facility. This is also posted at hospital survey.

My doctor sent me to the emergency room last Tuesday. I spent two hours down there and then went up to the sixth floor to the cardiac unit and today is now Sunday so five days I have been here during the week. I had no problem I hit my call button only when I need to and the nurses would show up within minutes all of the patient care tech would show up within 10 minutes that all changed Friday night at 7 PM with shift change. I don’t know if they are short on help but I hit my call button when they eventually show up 1520 minutes sometimes now or later they act like they are just extremely busy and they don’t have time to mess with me. The alarms are going off on machines. I don’t just go and push buttons to shut things off. I know nothing about. I’m writing this for review. It is now almost 2010. My nurse left at 1900 told the nurse coming on as soon as they were done that I was wanting to take a shower. I’ve had my alarms going off several times. I pushed the call button. Nobody shows up they act like they’re extremely busy and they may be. I am in my room. I do not venture out. I am not a nurse. I have nothing to do with the medical field I expressed concerns and they talk to me like I should just know everything is OK. A personal care tech just came in shut the alarm off on my EKG. I told her I’d like to take a Shower and she said I will have to wait as it going to be midnight before I get to take my shower irritates me because I have had IVs until I had my procedure. I got done at 2:30. I was told I need to wait four hours. Try to keep my arm as soon as possible. I have done everything I was told but here I sit still waiting not real happy with the hospital, especially when during the week I had no problems anytime I push my button. They were here within 10 minutes, but when it comes to the weekend, they act like they have no time for the patient and I am not the type of person that presses my alarm buttons every minute I only do that when I absolutely have to very frustrated my experience at St. John’s hospital six years ago was much much better. That night it seems like they are constantly taking a break and they do not care about the patients. Very frustrating.

I visit this hospital often- due to my job. I must say the valet Parking team & check in Ladies are always super helpful, and those valet people always keep it together despite the madness infront of them. Clean halls, hard working staff.

My dad has been in and out of the hospital lately. Care is ok, you have to stay on top of everything everyone says and write it down because it changes. Be your own advocate. Also, the employees steal. We have had two pieces of property stolen from us. And there is nothing they will do about it. Never leave anything in the room or think it will be there later... It won't. Your things ARE NOT SAFE. Also... Patient Experience does nothing to help you.
