I tried to schedule a visiting nurse after a major orthopedic surgery. After getting bounced around to two or three people, I finally got someone who told me to have my surgeon’s office fax them a referral. This was in the late afternoon. The surgical coordinator faxed the information, but I heard nothing from VNA the next day. I called in the morning. They said they had received my information and admissions was evaluating it. Toward the end of the day around 4 PM I still ha not heard anything from VNA about scheduling visiting nurse sessions. I called again. I was put on hold for 15 or 20 minutes. I was then bounced around to three people. I finally reached someone who said they declined my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance because of “capacity issues.” I said it would be nice to let me know. They said, we let your surgeons office know. I called my surgeon’s office. They had received a fax, buried under many other faxes saying VNA had declined my insurance. Meanwhile, I had bandages and dressing that had to be changed daily or every other day. I scrambled to find another provider. Now my surgeon has to fax the information to them and there’s a 24 to 48 hour turnaround time. I have never received this bad a level of service from any healthcare provider in my life. I urge people to stay away from VNA. It’s completely incompetent.

My mom just lost her battle with stage 4 lung cancer...we started with home health visit and then transitioned to hospice...from Robert (PT) to our visiting nurse they were amazing. Hospice was quit the journey but our nurse Jen and social worker Kelly made everything a little bit easier to deal with. Thank you VNA for the care you provided for my mom.

The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the person they sent for PT(Racheal) was amazing. When I went to use hospice it was a nightmare. I called and spoke to someone who referred me to triage. I was explaining what was going on and was told in a nasty tone to tell her what was going on that she had other calls. When they sent the hospice nurse she had no idea what she was doing. She was at my house for about 2 hours and went in to see my husband once. I was told I could pick up comfort care kit the next day at CVS. I called CVS they had no idea what I was talking about. I needed another medication to help with the secretions and ended up calling my own Dr. and getting it myself. I was fortunate that I knew what to do. I wouldn’t recommend VNA for Hospice care.

My grandmother, 83, raised 3 generations of kids in her home. Early this year was diagnosed with some pretty aggressive, progressive health issues. Unfortunately, we had to have hospice set up at home which is an absolute nightmare for anyone watching a loved one go through it. Giselle & Marion, are absolutely amazing. So gentle and compassionate. Some hero’s wear scrubs!♥️ thank you both for everything you do and continue to do.

I was offered VNA care after major abdominal surgery. Alyssa, Erica, and Katy are the most amazing nurses and I am so grateful for their visits. They were kind, compassionate, upbeat, and always listened to and addressed my concerns with care. I'm so thankful to have had them here during my early stages of recovery!
