The Mandwella Effect

The Mandwella Effect

The doctor sent in a referral and it took this place almost two weeks just to call me about setting up an appointment. I ask the lady on the phone if Medicare will pay for the AFO and she says “I don’t know, call your insurance and ask them”. How would you not know if Medicare would not cover the device? She even refused to give me the code to provide to my insurance so they could see if they would pay for it. U of M has severely gone downhill and I have made up my mind to switch to Trinity and see what they have to offer. I have heard wonderful stories about them treating patients a lot better.

This location has been making my orthotics since I was a kid — I’ve never felt unwelcome or rushed out of appointments. I’ve had some pretty cool braces made! The puzzle one is my favorite. They’ve always been good about trying to get you in as soon as humanly possible; or they’re able to complete repairs by dropping off the brace. Appointment wait times can be on the longer side so it’s best to get there earlier. I had repeated issues with one of the braces and its mechanics, Heather was patient and tried her best to resolve the issue with the manufacturer at the time (there was a lot of back and forth). Wait times for when a brace arrives can vary depending on many factors such as manufacturer and your insurance — I’ve never had an excessive wait other than during early COVID times. No complaints about the front desk staff, they’re always polite. I would definitely recommend it here personally. :)

These drs. here at A2 or Ann Arbor, Michigan, really has helped my brother to acclimate to his prosthetic leg and bionic ankle. My brother is one of my heros. He's been an amputee since 2000. You would not know that if you ever met him. His attitude is the best.
