I received help from Michiana Home Care when I was being treated for leiomyosarcoma, a form of cancer. The care was top-notch! A wonderful nurse came to my home the day after my intensive chemotherapy at U of M to check on me and give me IV fluids, and she also administered my Neulasta shot the day after chemo to help build my white blood cell count. She came back a week later to draw labs. She was incredibly smart, gentle, competent, and had been through a serious illness herself, so she was very empathetic and knew the things I needed, even before I did! I didn't have to go and wait at the lab or go to the infusion clinic for fluids. I was able to stay home, away from germs in the community, and I didn't have the energy to go anywhere, anyway. Every chemo patient needs a good home care nurse! After my surgery to remove the tumor, a wonderful physical therapist came to my home to evaluate my status and devised a therapy program for me. The likewise wonderful physical therapy assistant worked with me. She was so encouraging and gradually increased my therapy until I didn't need a walker or leg brace or anything! I called Lakeland home care before calling Michiana Home Care, but Lakeland was so unhelpful on the phone that I just hung up. I was sick and I needed help! Michiana Home Care had the right attitude, the right help, were so professional and kind, my concerns were addressed promptly, and I recovered quickly because of their excellent care. I had a number to call 24/7 and a nurse available 24/7 in case I needed them. Also, at Home Health Compare they have a well-deserved 5/5 rating! I am so grateful for the staff at Michiana Home Care.
