I went into AFib on vacation and also critically low magnesium! The paramedics had to shock my heart back into rhythm! The paramedics and the nurses both male and female as well as the doctors were very professional, respectful and caring! They saved my life! Thank you all so much!

Recently a black fly collided with my eye on a dog walk. Painful and then four days later with flashes and floaters, I checked myself in to the North Shore Health ER. I was greeted by Nurse Moree and then Dr. Taleb in what turned out to be a competent and compassionate two hour comprehensive exam. In every moment I was treated with respect, kindness, and even joyful fun to alleviate the stress I was feeling inside. I have read that "it depends who you get" here, as the shifts change. I guess I was blessed, lucky, fortunate. I have to say that for an ER visit, it could not have been better. Two thank-you cards, posting on the Grand Marais Community Web Site later, I am still grateful for the professional care that I received on June 6th. We never want to "get to know ER Staff" too well, because it means we have a crisis going on. Yet...if one has to ~ what a blessing to have this facility of professionals in our midst! Humbly Grateful. Scott S

Took 4 hours to be seen and the doctor stood at the door and never looked at my arm. She said my wrist was broken and gave me a cd of the x-ray. A specialist 3 days later said it was NOT broken. Did have severe bone bruise on my arm. It was my arm I wanted looked at not my wrist - the wrist was fine. Paid too much for that visit!! Also, the dr. said NOT to go to a specialist but I did anyway. Glad I did! The ER doctor LIED!!!

Brought my husband here for a bad stomach infection while camping in Grand Marais. Came into the ER and the admitting staff, Dr, and nurses were all excellent! Such great care for a couple day stay. They even let me bring my dog in to visit my husband. Excellent care and follow up. Highly recommend!

Outstanding care in the ER here, I came in by ambulance from the BWCA and was looked after by the kindest, most professional and efficient nurses and doctor overnight. What might have been a pretty traumatic experience is actually quite a nice memory because of the quality of care and humanity I experienced. Absolutely the best you’ll get anywhere.
