Just moved to Minneapolis in October and quickly learned where NOT to go in the event of a medical emergency. My girlfriend was in a head on collision due to an assumed drunk driver last night and taken to this hospital by ambulance. She was left in the waiting room upon arrival only to sit in a hallway bed for hours with great lack of attention and care. No imaging, labs, or time sensitive diagnostics were done. The physician claimed that he “sees this all of the time and it’s not worth the money or exposure to radiation because she probably just has whiplash”. A head and neck injury should never be dismissed by a “probably”, NEVER. As a nurse myself and an ICU nurse at that—I am appalled. Do better—or do the bare minimum at the least. The lack of care and attention is absolutely sickening.

Absolutely horrendous. Do not go here if you can help it. My husband was involved in a severe accident that left him unable to walk for months, and for the time he was there he was put under constant neglect. He needed help moving in bed the first few days of his recovery and when he pressed his call button he was met with over three hours of waiting just for someone to come in and not know how to help him move in bed. She was confused and truly had no idea what to do for him. That happened for days until he mustered up enough strength to do it himself even though it was painful. For the entire time of his stay he was starved. Staff would not bring meals for days at a time, I truly wish I was lying. He sat in there with no food or water, only when I and other family members would bring him food would he get the chance to eat. Nurses refused to check the cafeteria for food because “the cafeteria is closed”, there is plenty of packaged meals to bring, but they refused to bring them, telling him no and telling him he will have to wait until the morning, only to never receive breakfast that following morning. Because of his injuries he was unable to use the restroom on his own and would need help, the nurses would never come to assist him, and when he ended up doing his business on his own they wouldn’t come to dispose of it. My husband could use a bedpan, he was capable of using it, but the nurses instead told him to quote “just poop in the bed, we’ll clean it later”. He had to sit humiliated in a bed with his own feces for hours before someone came to clean it up. HOURS. He has been neglected and humiliated, and I want to add that he had a staff change within the first two days of him being in the hospital, that is how awful they were from the beginning, and when he asked again for a new nursing team they said they couldn’t change it because there was nobody else. If all of their nursing staff are that way then this place needs to be looked into. Patients deserve respect and comfort, not abuse. My husband deserved respect and comfort, and he was not given that. The noises you hear from other patients screaming for help while seeing the wall of call lights on for each room is horrific. The nurses would rather gossip about having affairs with one another on their spouses than to care for people in need. All of them don’t even seem to have gone to medical school either, never knowing how to give a shot or an iv, and constantly asking my husband how to do something that is their job. All of the things they’ve done is just so much to explain, but it is pure torture for these patients. I hope people see this and think differently about this place, and please if you can help it, do not go here ever. Edit: My husband went back after being discharged because of a skin wound on his ankle that was constantly bleeding and not seeming to heal despite them having stitched it up back when he was stuck in this dump. He went in and immediately the doctors said he might need another surgery…for an open wound. Mind you this wound is not large, it’s about the size of a nickel, a usual wound that would scab in the time he was in the hospital, and would stay closed, however it didn’t after he was discharged so clearly there was an issue, but surgery? There is absolutely no way a small, nickel sized skin wound would require surgery, that is just absolutely unnecessary, and they said it might be the only way to fix it. Well my husband said no, and that they need to look at it first, because they hadn’t before saying surgery may be required. After doing x-rays, which too felt unnecessary because you could clearly see into the wound, they found out they had left a stitch in the wound that was now sunk into his skin causing the bleeding and minor pain when pressure was applied. So what do they do?? Suggest surgery AGAIN. For a stitch that you could see from the wound, not too deep, that they mistakenly left in. He said no to surgery and they removed the stitch with a scalpel, no pain meds for it. Unbelievable

Went in for what I thought was a dislocated shoulder, ended up being a pretty sick clavicle fracture. I didn’t wait for longer than 5 minutes before I was seen. The staff is very respectful and sweet as well. Just a couple things that threw me off. The lobby needs to be swept, everything wiped down with hot sanitizing water, HOURLY. and then mop when you can I assume it can be hard because it’s 24 hours and you don’t want anybody to slip but i almost turned around and left when I saw the state of the lobby but the woman I was talking to was respectful enough to make me stay. Another thing is there’s not really room for privacy when you walk in to talk to a doctor the door is openand the whole lobby is behind you able to see you and listen to you that is not comfortable so I was already uncomfortable with that then 2 other doctors (very sweet staff) were watching what my nurse was doing and listening to my answers so I just got uncomfortable because they didn’t introduce themselves nor say what they were doing but once they did it was cool. Overall very nice staff which makes up for the kind of dirty lobby and lack of privacy. Not as bad of a place as other people are making it out to be. They also made sure I completely understood what was happening and what the next step to take was and exactly how to do it

This was one of the hospitals where it’s a regular hospital, but I was put into the psych section. This happened with about two other hospitals and then I was also in a psych unit two times. I was only in a hospital that was a psych unit one time in my whole life and they bought my records 2 to 3 times. This hospital like I said as a physical hospital and they have a psych section and I was some reason wheeled into the psych section. I could walk, but for some reason these hospitals several times were putting me in a wheelchair in front of cameras and bringing me to the psych sections. So something was up because the fact that I only truly went to one psych unit, which I wasn’t supposed to either my dad was a part of that Just looks really sketchy. So anyway, this hospital told me on September 4 or the second or so that my records would be updated in two days. It’s been 32 days and nothing‘s been corrected. Also, once again it’s not everyone’s fault for this review, but I really think that hospitals need to reevaluate who they hired. It was a lot of corruption going on and this is not even scratching the surface of it.

The er was not the worst. The wait time was a little long but that is to be expected, the staff was nice. Once I got admitted to a room that’s when it went downhill, most staff very rude, in bad moods, did not want to do their job. They kept me there knowing they didn’t have the doctor needed to do my procedure so I was there for no reason basically. One nurse I had, Tony, was awesome. He made me feel comfortable and I appreciated him. They were also doing work right outside my room starting at 6:45am going until 3pm. Would press my call button and would have to wait 10+ minutes for someone to come check on me. Choose a different hospital if possible.
