The assessment nurse at St. John's Fairview hospital had no bedside manner. She didn't even introduce herself by name and never asked any of our names or anything about our father personally, who is dying. From the moment she sat down we already knew she would not go to bat for us because all she kept talking about was the reasons why he wouldn't qualify and never really spoke positively about anything really. Her spiel was very scripted and not personal. After assessing our dad and giving the report to their Medical Director, they completely denied not only GIP, but any hospice care at all! The three physicians treating our father were absolutely baffled that they didn't approve our patient who is clearly at the end of his life with clear parameters for hospice. When delivering the information to our family about the denial, she was very robotic and cold - not what one would expect from a nurse in this position who should be caring, empathetic, and compassionate not only to the patient dying but to their family. We got a second opinion from another Hospice provider who came the next day early morning. The nurse took one look at our father and couldn't believe her eyes that AccentCare denied him hospice. They approved him immediately for services. What a disappointment to be treated this way by this company. They really need to do better. Or hire better.

The nurses are good. But everything we needed. They were a day late I never did get a sponge things. My mom wanted to see the chaplain, but he kept putting her off and by the time he made it there she was already too far gone to communicate with him, so thanks for that. I had to block my mom in her bed with her wheelchair and walker so that she wouldn’t get up because it took two days to get a bed.
