My 97 year old mother had a minor stroke. Englewood Hospital recommended physical therapy, speech therapy, and nursing services for when my mother returned home from the hospital. Englewood Hospital assigned VNA to my mother. We are disappointed with the services VNA provides. The care providers are not employees and there is no central coordination. They call to schedule appointments on the same day they want to show up. When they are told no they get annoyed. They have called late on Sunday night to schedule. One day my mother had physical therapy, and then speech therapy. She was exhausted and then the nurse called to try and come the same day I would not recommend VNA.

My dad was referred by physician to VNA for home hospice care. He declined rapidly and with no experience we were not prepared for what was to come. We had a nurse (who was very kind) twice a week. Lots of equipment and meds. However, we were left to our own devices to provide intensive around the clock care on our own. They do not have 24. hospice care. Their social worker has not responded to me since my dad's passing. No grief support and when care became needed around the clock we were told only option was to hire a private nurse. If you need around the clock hospice for a dying family member, do not use VNA. My sister and I did what was needed, but it took a terrible physical and emotional toll, on top of an already awful situation. Everyone I have spoken to since, has never heard of an hour a day hospice care. An awful experience. I could detail much more, but no need.

The Visiting nurse association Of Englewood apparently sold my name, my home address and home phone to merchants who are now calling me. Today the vendor told me he got my personal information from the VNA Of Englewood because”I might like to buy their services”. I never agreed to giving or the sale of my personal information! Who would want that?? I was referred from my doctor after surgery to VNA. The arrangement was completely done by hSS and not even my idea! I found the services to be sub par...e.g. VNA sent a nurse to remove post surgical bandages — she said she would wait a week. When my doctor found out he told me the bandages needed removal ASAP so VNA had to send a Senior nurse who knew how to remove the bandages. I asked for a different nurse for the other nursing help and VNA refused. I used YouTube to figure out what to do...The other services were meh—the PT person VNA sent was usually late or didn’t show up. I hate the vendor calls and poor quality of services so I strongly suggest avoiding the Englewood group of VNA.

The OT Amit Nair & PT Debbie Rutter assigned to my mother through the Robert Wood Johnson Visiting Nurses we’re both amazing. Debbie made this experience very pleasurable for my 89 year old mother & helped her tremendously. She was professional yet friendly & my mother who was reluctant to have anyone come to her home liked her very much & listened to her advice. It was obvious she really wanted to help & this was not just a job to her. My mother made great strides & we cannot thank her enough.

Nurse came by the name of Jenifer Alfanzo please be aware she will give the medication with out your permission , knowing even if makes your family member sick . Please be present and aware . She said i know your family member not responsive you need to make a decision , told her not to give the medication went to go wash my hands and caught her giving it anyway . After being confronted she made a seance and stormed out and the V.N.A health groupe tried to cover up . We started a law suit will keep everyone posted .
