We were so fortunate to have my dad taken in by Calvary hospice care on his last days. His room was well kept. The nurses and staff were all attentive and supportive during our most difficult times. I wish there was a facility on Long Island to help serve this community as well!

My mother was admitted to Calvary in March 2025. She died in June 2025. To this day I still replay in my head how much my mother suffered here. I agree with another reviewer about the care on the 6th floor. The staff is apathetic and show no compassion. With the exception of maybe two nurse techs who would listen to the families concerns the rest acted like they couldn’t be bothered. Some even had an attitude like you were a bother to them! On the day my mother died we received a call at 1pm. We rushed to Calvary. No one was there to greet us. We walked into my mother’s room to find her cold body. All I can ask myself is how long was my mother lying there dead before they even noticed. My heart is broken that I lost my mother but the brokenness is compounded by the fact that my mother suffered in a place that I thought would take care of her with compassion dignity. I received an alert from google of reaction to my review. A smiley face with tongue sticking out. Shame on you.

Don’t ever take your family member to this horrible place!!!! The aides are good but when you come to the doctors social workers they are HORRIBLE they don’t care about the patients they care more for the things that they shouldn’t!!!!!!! If I would have known I would have NEVER taken my loved one there!!!! Keep your loved ones out of this hospital!!! They started to give my loved one a medicine that he was not taken till I found out about it had him all out without eating or doing nothing just there knocked out! Then the doctor had the nerve to get upset when I said to stop giving that medicine, they never care for the patients well being if you asked to do any test etc to your loved one they did not even bother!!!! The social worker never had the heart to go into my loved ones room never approached us with any concerns that’s sad why she even there for???? We were always there day and night thank God so please just do yourself a favor and stay away from this place

This review is for the inpatient experience at Calvary, not their Hospice at Home program. I saw another reviewer mention their loved one was on the 6th floor and my poor experience matches theirs. When you see someone you love suffering and dying, only to be surrounded by staff that is apathetic and treats you like you’re a burden whenever you ask for something, that just compounds on the already awful and heartbreaking experience. You would think they would show more compassion to the patient and family during the patient’s last days, but no—they just administer the medicine and leave. Most of the time they didn’t event greet us or acknowledge our existence. The nursing team also didn’t take the time to understand the patient’s needs. Our family member was incoherent/ unresponsive when the nurse asked if she was in pain, and then just chose NOT to give her pain medication and left, rather than checking in every so often to see if there was any change in need or responsiveness. She was also vomiting and the staff only checked in on her after 4 hours. Luckily we are able to have someone stay with her and advocate on her behalf overnight so she can at least sleep comfortably. Unfortunately, this is one of the few hospitals that has a hospice wing, and we are stuck with it. If you have alternative choices, take them. The first star is for facility cleanliness. It’s an old hospital, but at least it’s maintained. The second star is for the social workers and a couple of hospice nurses/techs who were actually attentive and kept us informed.

I am writing to share my deep disappointment and concern regarding the care my father received at Calvary Hospital. We chose Calvary on the recommendation of White Plains Hospital and with the understanding that he would be kept comfortable and receive the full palliative care plan that was promised. Unfortunately, our experience was very different. My father did not have a comfortable end of life. His medication for peripheral vascular disease was removed, and he ultimately passed away not from obstructive pulmonary disease, but from a blood clot in his leg. In the hours leading up to his death, he was clearly in pain—he repeatedly said his leg hurt, his leg was cold, and he appeared extremely uncomfortable. I was told that he was “reflecting” his morphine through the oral route and that this was the reason for his ongoing pain. Despite his suffering, it took far too long for staff to provide an IV to administer medication effectively. I had to beg the nurse to help keep him comfortable and asked if there was another way to give him morphine. Watching him in pain for so long was incredibly traumatic for me and my family. We were assured that at Calvary, our loved one would be made comfortable, that dignity and relief from suffering were priorities. Sadly, those promises were not met. The lack of timely pain management and the delay in addressing his needs caused my father to endure unnecessary pain in his final hours. I am sharing this because I hope no other family has to go through what we did. End-of-life care should focus on compassion, dignity, and comfort. Our experience did not reflect that standard, and it has left us with deep sadness and regret.
