I have been working with The New Jewish Home for over a year now, with regards to my uncle, and I only have good things to say! Everyone involved including Joseph Hickman, Beverly Williams, Brigid and all of the caregivers including Esi, Michael, Gustavo, Mariela, Fay, Pearl, Sequan and Maria...thank you so much for your patience and professionalism with a more than difficult situation. I want to also take the time to make a special Thank You to Barra Bernstein the Geriatric Care Manager. Barra has been with me from the beginning of this journey helping me to care for my uncle. I live on the West Coast and Barra was there for me every day. The level of care, compassion and service was exceptional and I am forever grateful. There were some incredibly difficult moments and decisions that had to be made over the last year and a half and Barra always had the right answer with the right perspective! I can only hope that if I ever find myself in my uncle's position that I am lucky enough to have someone like her!

Hello my name is Tom Johnson. I highly recommend the personal aide/companion service managed by Joseph Hickman at the New Jewish Home. Mr Hickman was consistently professional, understanding and quick in responding to our needs. We were also lucky to be assigned Chiquiha Gilmore as an aide. She was excellent. She was caring for an old friend for whom I am the Power of Attorney. I live in Italy and so everyday Ms Gilmore spoke to me on the phone and described the situation there. She was kind and able with my elderly friend and, importantly, collaborated immediately with his long-term personal assistant. Great job. Thank you.

My story is complicated. I mention this because, beyond the extreme difficulty as the only family member, understanding how to care for my elderly mother with late stage dementia I was faced with having to keep her safe from elder abuse. Not only has the care from the New Jewish Home over the last 7 years provided me the assurance of knowing my mother was being cared for from a medical perspective with keeping on top of her med pours etc. with an amazing and caring nurse, Kathryn Ralph, but the incredible social workers have provided me with the utmost psychological support and advice. Barra Bernstein’s consistent check-ins help me to stay calm and know that I do have support during a time in life which we never really understand the complexities until we are there. Thank you all!

My 90 yr old mother & I have been in contract with The New Jewish Home-HAPI division, for about a month. My experience working with the account executive, the care coordinators, and my mother’s care experience with the home health aides (HHAs)has been positive. First, I’d like to recognize the good work of my initial phone contact of the agency, the receptionist. He was pleasant & efficient. He knew the right questions to ask & took down my contact information, so he could find the Account Executive who could help me. Mr. Joseph Hickman, the Account Executive, assigned to my case was professional, thorough and kind. His knowledge of the intake process helped to create a productive & efficient home care enrollment experience with The New Jewish Home-HAPI division. Although my family & I are new to working with the agency, the care coordinator(s) have been friendly & communicative. They try to find the right placement that will foster a positive relationship between the client & HHA. The care coordinators mediate any concerns between the client and HHA & will find replacements when necessary. As soon as the care coordinators learn of an aide’s absence they will contact the client or the client’s advocate & will try to find a replacement. The home health care aides have been very kind and eager to help. My mother and brother are pleased with their support & presence in the home. As of a month’s enrollment, I would recommend The New Jewish Home-HAPI.
