I had surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital yesterday and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the care I received. From start to finish the staff was truly amazing and compassionate. Lyza in pre surgery was an absolute angel. As I started to feel nervous she gave me a warm hug that immediately calmed me down. What was expected to be a one hour surgery turned into several hours due to an accidental finding that required additional consent. Throughout this unexpected delay Lyza went above and beyond by keeping my family updated and reassured. Her kindness and thoughtfulness meant so much to all of us. After surgery I was in excruciating pain and Rae continuously checked on me making sure I was okay and also taking the time to comfort my loved one. Her attentiveness and compassion did not go unnoticed. The icing on the cake was Jahkima. She made it her priority to ensure I was comfortable and that my pain was well managed. There was also another woman possibly the charge nurse who was slim with blonde hair. Although I did not catch her name she made sure I had something to drink and checked in on me which I truly appreciated. The care I received yesterday was exceptional. Every person I encountered treated me with empathy, patience ,and genuine concern. I am incredibly grateful to the entire team at pre/post surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital for making such a difficult day feel supported and safe.

Your EKG was fine a year ago. You came in for chest pain a year ago and we did a whole work up and CTA everything came back fine. That’s what I was told tonight by the ER doctor when I was taken from my PCP doctor’s office and admitted to Good Samaritan for chest pain and an abnormal EKG from a Primary care appointment. I was treated horribly, the ER doctor told me I was wasting time and money. And then she refused to admit that was her statement. She refused to do an ECHo or CTA because I had one a year ago and it was fine. I was told by the nurse manager chest pain doesn’t warrant a CTA and I needed to have SOB and stabbing chest pains in different areas of my chest to warrant a CTA. She stated they didn’t have to agree with my Doctor at Refuah Health stating I needed a CTA immediately just because of chest pain and an abnormal EKG.

My mother has been admitted to God Sam on and off over the last few years typically for a week duration. CLEANLINESS This last time, the cleanliness was clearly lacking. I would go in at 8pm to spend the night and first thing was always picking up gauze, wrappers, and other trash from the room floor. I asked for housekeeping because there was urine on the bathroom floor, the nurse said he would call but it was late. I left the next morning and it still hadn't been cleaned. When I returned at night it was dried on the floor. Noone ever came to sweep or mop the room or bathroom the entire week! I came in one night and the curtain around her bed was gone. She is the first bed and the careteam would always leave her door wide open even if they found it slightly closed for privacy. I asked about the curtain which had apparently fallen down earlier in the day after I had left. It was bunched up on thr floor next to the trash can. Still the nurse thought it was appropriate to have that one hung back up. I had to insist that a clean curtain be brought up. CARETEAM lack of communication between doctors and nurses is also starkly apparent. My friend's mother was also hospitalized during the same week and she had the same concern. Doctor may say one thing, nurses would have no information. Not sure if its because doctors weren't including some information in their notes, only writing down medication/treatment provisions and not the goals. HOSPITALITY Male nursing staff and care partners were abundantly more pleasant than many of the female staff. The woman in the other bed was quite bothersome but it still didn't warrant the sharp tones and dismissiveness she was met with by the female nursing staff everyday. The male staff were much more patient and willing to listen, even if she was being rediculous, at least they treated her as an adult deserving dignity and respect.

Went to the emergency room at 12:30 AM for concern about a heart attack. They hooked me up to their ekg, pulse and BP monitors and drew blood. Other than filling out their admittance forms, that was the last I saw anyone, in spite of the fact that I became unattached to all of the monitors at around 2 or 2:15. They claimed they were constantly monitoring me but couldn't have been as the machines were unattached for the last hour. I checked myself out a few minutes ago at 3:15 AM "against medical advice " which is a laugh because I never got any. Worst hospital anywhere. Avoid at all costs. Actually had a lady (Nurse?) yell at me for asking to go to the restroom because they were busy with more serious cases (mind you, I thought I was having a heart attack). When I left, this person was sleeping at a desk outside my room. As I left, a nurse yanked the IV out of my arm and didn' properly bandage it. I had to go back in for more bandaging while I waited for my ride as I bled all over my clothes. UPDATE- I called the patient care number two days ago as Good Samaritan asked me to do (in their review response today which is the same response they give to everyone who has a bad experience). I got apologies and assurances that I would hear back from the head of that department. It's two days plus later and I have not heard back.
