As a nursing home administrator serving the Durham market, I have had the opportunity to work closely with Duke Home Care and Hospice—not only as a recipient of their services for my residents, but also through strong professional relationships with their entire interdisciplinary team. From this perspective, I can confidently attest to their unwavering commitment to excellence in every aspect of their operation. As part of a large and highly respected health system, Duke Home Care and Hospice has access to resources that many other providers understandably envy. What sets them apart, however, is how thoughtfully and effectively they use those resources to deliver an outstanding experience for the individuals and families entrusted to their care. I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend Duke Home Care and Hospice.

This is in regard to Duke Hospice bereavement services: my family and I received tremendous support from the social workers and staff members during our time of bereavement. The one-on-one support and the 8-week support group was excellent. Thank you so much for offering this service to the community.

It was a touching experience attending the Lights of Remembrance event at the Duke Homecare and Hospice where families and friends dedicate Luminaries to their departed with poignant and touching words. While assisting the patients and their families with skilled and compassionate care, this ceremony offers the families an opportunity to remember their loved ones in the presence of others who have shared their experience. Besides the care given while alive by the Duke Hospice and Home Health, the Duke Hospice Bereavement Services continues assisting the families and friends with their loss.

I've had multiple people who got Duke Hospice services. The staff are so very dedicated to helping the patients on their last journeys but also, their families for whom it can be a time of anguish. I've used the assigned social worker in this regard to help. It's a team approach and important to leverage the whole team. The medical staff know so much of how to provide comfort and manage pain. I attended Bereavement offerings afterward, and those group sessions were absolutely priceless and perfectly executed. In fact several of us who attended became friends and stay in touch. I can't say enough good about Duke Hospice.

Rosalyn has no business working in the business in any capacity. I was being discharged after a multiple day stay and the providers wanted to know when they could show me what they needed to she could care less and essentially told me to just wait around. No one thought it Made me since so I was discharged and went home. Later she called trying to chastise me for leaving the hospital which was ridiculous. People that have no compassion or human decency should not be in a role like this. This starts at the top though. She needs to be evaluated and hopefully her calls are recorded because I think Duke would be appauled with the way she has been treating their patients. This is something that I am willing to take all the way to the top because no patients especially terminal diagnosis should have this extra nonsense put on them by someone that is just there to collect a check.
