Terrible service nurse Malicia was always late and rushed when doing wound care for my grandfather. I would not recommend Bayada at all. I asked how the wound was it’s getting better lies he had to have surgery and it was infected.
Tru Rview
Do not use this home health care agency if recommended to you by a nursing facility or Cape Fear Valley. I don't have any resources to escalate my complaint so I decided to leave this review. The head PT guy Leo has zero empathy for elderly patients who are struggling with mobility especially after a 2 week hospital stay. After 2 and a half weeks of us waiting for PT after discharge, he schedules with us then the next day says he may not make it due to his sleep apnea. He then pops up at a random time as we were finishing my moms shower. We let him in to asses my mom and he doesn't greet or acknowledge or introduce himself to my mom. He says he has to do an initial assessment of my mom in which he asked us the same questions 3 or 4 times yet claimed he was listening while he was doing something on a tablet. He still didn't acknowledge my mom sitting in the room, the client, the actual patient. At some point I told him he can ask her questions and talk to her. He acted if she wasn't even in the room. He seemed to have read notes and hospital diagnoses on my mom prior to his arrival and already had it set in his mind that he didn't want to help her because of "all her problems." He made my mom feel really bad and upset us as he kept repeating that he has been doing this work for 20 years and worked with MS patients before but never with someone with 2 other diagnoses my mom had. 1 which was MS related dementia meaning it's hard for her to recall things quickly so we advocate for her and help her with financial and medical info including sign for her. The other was lung cancer which is stable and has been stable for over 5 years. Bayada claimed Leo was the best they had. This man is out of touch with patient care and much more out of touch with the needs of a MS patient. He kept disregarding the fact the info we gave him regarding the hospital stopping a flare treatment too soon and her Neurologist starting a new dose at home the day before he came and the fact that my mom is not prone to UTIs and had one from being left sitting in her urine and poop at the hospital and being started on a new round of antibiotics. I had to clean her myself to sace her from further infection. He was very unempathetic to her as she had declined the past few days of his arrival due to treatmenr she needed to continue after discharge. She needed PT sooner than 2 and half weeks after the hospital discharge. We had other companies ready to schedule the same week she was released but my sister chose Bayada due to a positive interaction with the nursing staff. I believe OT would have been good due to a conversation we had with the OT person but still there was no contact from this company in 2 and half weeks from discharge from the hospital. Leo acted like he just started this job and had no training in how to care for patients much less to a senior who was struggling with untreated issues from the hospital. If he was familiar with MS patients he would of understood that they have good days and bad days. One of the worst issues with this PT is that when he finally had her walk, he turned his stop watch on and acted like she waa in a race and told her to go faster. Once he was done timing her, he was very passionate about stating "how she was the slowest person he ever timed" still having no empathy with her hospital admittance diagnoses of a new flare (which she hasn't had a flare in 5 years) After I asked for his supervisors info he called someone on her cell phone and walked out the house leaving his belongings. I went outside and told him we didn't need his services to please get his things and leave. There is more to this situation but this is the best I can share given this horrible experience. This man needs to be fired or shadowed by someone who can teach him manners and how to do his job properly. Out of all the PT I have had experience in the past from my own personal experience to friends and family, I've never had such a poor interaction with a Physical Therapist.
