The entire team at AuthoraCare were such a blessing to our family this year. We had two parents in hospice for extended periods of time. We had exceptional nurses, Juliet and Debbie, that went above and beyond. The aide, Sasha, was so good helping us bathing and giving us helpful tips along the way. The social worker, Jodi, was always there for us. She's amazing. We were blessed to have many visits by the Chaplain, Bryan. I want to publicly thank all these heroes for what they do everyday.

I don't think it is possible for me to adequately express the level of care, compassion, empathy, guidance and support the entire AuthoraCare Collective organization has demonstrated towards myself and my dear wife Cindy during her brief stay at the Greensboro facility and then for the months afterwards as I've dealt with the intense grief of losing her. However....the following is my best effort to do just that. In Mid-September, 2024, after a desperate and brutal but inspring battle with Melanoma it was clear that Jesus was calling my dear 52-year-old wife Cindy home. While Cindy was in the hospital, I left her side long enough to see the Greensboro Authoracare facility. It is bright, clean and very inviting with an outdoorsy feel. The manager spent time with me to help me understand how the process worked, what I could expect and what they would allow…..thankfully they encouraged me to bring our 3 dogs so that they could say goodbye their momma who loved them so much. The manager was so compassionate and kind almost as if she had known me for years. I regret that I don’t recall her name, but she was absolutely wonderful. Cindy arrived at Authoracare by way of ambulance, unable to speak or open her eyes, at around noon on Sept 14, 2024. The staff was professional but very personal and they wasted no time in making sure that Cindy was comfortable and was in need of nothing. This review would not be complete without mentioning her day nurse by name…..Robin. For the remainder of that afternoon and during the next day Robin became a part of our family. She answered all of my rapid-fire questions and she did all of the duties of a person in her position but she also brushed Cindy’s hair, trimmed her nails, she asked about how we met and fell in love, she got to know everyone who came to visit and she welcomed and even looked after our 3 dogs. She innately knew when to be present and when to allow for privacy. Cindy passed the next evening and I will forever be grateful for Robin and the rest of the staff who helped to fill Cindy’s last hours on this earth with dignity and love. Within a few weeks I received a call to make me aware of all of the services Authoracare has to support those who are grieving. I took advantage of 2 of these services: The first was a support group for folks who have lost their spouse. Our group met weekly for about 8 weeks and the facilitator was a wonderful woman named Adriana. To say she was exceptional would be an understatement. Somehow within a session or 2 Adriana was able to get 10 perfect strangers to start opening up to each other about the most life changing experience that they had ever had. She had a talent for making everyone feel comfortable so they would open up then backing away so that dialog would develop organically. She began the healing process for us all and allowed us to play a part in the healing of each other. She did her job with so much grace and kindness that many in our group continue to heal together by meeting for lunch monthly and I don’t expect that to end anytime soon. The other service that has meant the world to me is individual counselling. My counsellor Kimberly has been not short of life sustaining for me. In so many instances during my hardest times I have leaned on her words of encouragement. She knows what to say, when to say it and when to just listen. Somehow, she has helped me know what to expect as I put my life back together and her kindness has helped me learn to be kind to myself. As I reflect on all of the time I’ve spent with her it has become clear that her guidance will not only help me deal with my loss of Cindy but it goes beyond that to help me deal with other tough aspects of life. In closing I simply cannot say enough good things about Authoracare. Their care for Cindy was beyond exceptional and their support as I have grieved her loss has given me strength to keep moving forward.

My mother (62) was put into in home hospice care (unexpected) back in January and unfortunately she was only here for 8 days after that. My personal experience with the team was PHENOMENAL. I can say that my mother would have felt the same way. Tina, our main nurse, was beyond exceptional every single step of the way (even when I would call her back to back to back because I just didn’t know….). Faith, our assigned social worker, was SO caring and so genuine in everything she did. She even got my dad (old school southern man) to open up about things. The icing for me, was that final night, when we just needed someone to come check on her due to us not being in the medical field nor understanding what she was needing as she was nonverbal at that time. And we were met with, Michael (I think?!). He is a literal angel, god send. He got to my parents house before I did (by 45min) and gave my dad some not so great news, but he didn’t leave him. My dad wanted to be alone, so Michael sat in his car for almost an hour until I got there to be with my dad. Again, an absolute miracle of a human. All in all, as much as I hated every step of the experience, I do appreciate our team being so amazing!

My mom was transferred to Authoracare from the hospital. We knew mom was at end of life and wanted her to be comfortable. The staff was simply incredible - they are angels. They talked to us about end of life care and gave us a Blue book of signs to look at for the progression. They cared for our family as much as they cared for mom. The social workers helped us navigating the plans for mom’s transition. Their kindness and consideration was so beautiful especially at our difficult time. I can’t thank them enough for the patience and love.
