American Mercy Health’s handling of our situation was not just disappointing—it was negligent. They accepted our loved one as a patient, only to later backtrack and decline care without warning. This left us scrambling, with no discharge plan, no home care setup, and no support. Their reversal wasn’t just inconvenient—it was reckless and irresponsible. You don’t get to play with people’s health like that. Accepting a patient means committing to their care, not pulling the rug out when it’s time to follow through. Their lack of communication and accountability created chaos during an already critical moment. If this is how they operate, families deserve to know. We trusted them to do their job—they failed.

So I used American mercy home health from 2018 to 2023. And recently I was released from the hospital and put under their care again. First of all when I was released from their care back in 2023 a nurse who came out was new they’d had some staffing issues due to a lot their rn that was assigned to my area was out on medical leave or something? Anyways a new rn had to cover her territory she was coming from Trenton. One of the rudest humans I’ve ever dealt with not to mention not quite sure when or how she got her nursing license. But to any rate she came out to see me one afternoon. And take it I’d been with these people for 5 years: and walks in my door and says listen I have bad news but I am releasing you from care today. I was like what are you talking about why, and she said in my opinion you have the ability to leave the house to go to Dr appt and other things so you can go to a lab, I wasn’t just being treated for blood draws at the time I have a transplanted organ so a heavily reduced immune system do to anti rejections meds. I’d had a injury to my toes that wouldn’t heal it was over a year and was constant infected and simply wouldn’t heal. So they were doing dressing changes on it every time they came out and trying to help me keep it clean and bandaged. Also they were taking my weekly labs. This girl came all the way out to basically tell me she was dropping me. Which could’ve been done over the phone but see their pay structure both the business as well as the rn do not get paid if they don’t show up, she was here for all of 30 sec. Didn’t bother to change the bandage didn’t both to do vitals simply came and released me and left. Well I just got released from the hospital after a 6 weeks stay do to acute kidney injury To my transplanted kidney, in rejection an and on all kinds of medications. The nurse that came out to see me Was Lindsay she was awesome she did a fantastic job she was with me for my intake for Around an hour going over everything and took great care asking lots of questions and making sure everything was taken care of before she left. Happy I was back with a great nurse and Lpn and sure they’d take care of of whatever I needed them to. Well I was scheduled to receive labs every week from now till this time next year in 2026. The next week I wait and waited for a call to schedule my appointment finally Friday I call the office to find out where someone is and explain how crucial it is that I get these labs drawn. All to find out they’d released me and no one had even called to relay to me that hey you need to make other arrangements to get your labs drawn cause Medicare isn’t paying for us to just draw lab. So we removed you from the schedule, the ladies name was Mary Allison. I said wouldn’t that have been something I might have needed to know considering it’s a holiday weekend and now I’m going not have to wait till later next week. That’s not good considering I’m having these labs drawn for a kidney that has been in failure and just now starting to recover it is imperative that my doc are able to see how it’s doing and keep a close eye on my med levels as to not injure it any further. Well Mary Allison says not to worry I can send you a copy of your labs via email and you can take it to a lab that close to you and have it done. A week later I’m still waiting for the lab order to be emailed, what is going on, this is insane I had to call my Dr and get new orders sent to a different company. It’s been two weeks going on three since I e had my labs done. Very disappointing I expected much different treatment from The office at American mercy

DO NOT USE them for anything! Every visit to my mom ( less then 5) her vitals may have been taken and nothing's else was done. Insurance gets charged and the one thing I needed help w was ignored. My mom, dad and aunt are staying w me. Mom.is a full lift and sometimes pivot. Dad is a pivot and needs help w everything and my aunt is mentally challenged. Mom needs her attend changed and assistance with a sponge bath. As a single mom I took all three in and talked to American Mercy in tears because my back continues to go out. I work full time and can't afford any help. They were supposed to help get us an aide or bed bath for her. A month went by and I had to throw my back out today giving her a bath in bed. I called American Mercy back and they claimed insurance denied the claim because their home visit notes said my mom had a caregiver at my house and I live there. Again, I'm a single mom who works full time. I have zero help and American Mercy has done nothing helpful! Only charged insurance.i had a friend stop over to help twice and I can't afford a regular care giver. I'm at the end of my rope and disgusted with American Mercy. What a joke

This organization is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful to their elderly patients. They assigned these individuals to my mother for post op home care. They refused to schedule the visits and would show up unexpected and uninvited. After many weeks of this they bullied my mother into believing that she needed to go into a nursing home. One that they picked up course they refused to allow our family to become involved with anything as far as placement. Immediately alarmed us after dealing with Eli. Be very cautious when choosing this company

Awful! The nursing itself was fine, but the company had TERRIBLE Customer Service. They would call you each time the night before your appointment, even if you had a standard appointment. If you didn’t pick up the phone, they would automatically cancel your appointment. I would call them back just to be told that I was out of luck. Too late, someone else took my appointment. My doctor had asked my blood be drawn at a specific day and time, but this didn’t matter to them. For gosh sakes, when you are sick or just get out of the hospital, you don’t always pick up every call. This is especially true when they have the nurse call on their personal cell phone. The nurse always rotated. When I called the main office, the woman chewed ME out, claiming that the nurse had called me back another day. If she did, there was no message. I guess I will speak to University Hospital who recommended them.
