KCH did not learn from the many hospital failures across the country. Instead they bought buildings, renovated them, moved offices, built new buildings and offered ridiculous sign on bonuses to new nurses and doctors, and now they are trying to stay viable. They have labeled their situation as “partnering” while keeping the KCH as the disguise. They didn’t bother to give their staff the raises they deserved, instead opted to cut retirement benefits, cheaper healthcare coverage for their employees and cut down paid time off benefits, so they could continue to mismanage our local hospital. Now they have sold Urgent Care under this umbrella of partnering. It’s past time for Bruce White and his administration to go. Most likely too late to save our community hospital.

In regard to the care I have received it is excellent. Inpatient and outpatient. Everyone has been kind and attentive. My doctors are excellent and the best I have ever had. Caring and considerate and attentive to my input. They are fantastic. When in the hospital I can say the same of that care. My sole complaint comes from the patient portal. It is not user friendly. The personal information is inaccurate. I tried to fix some of it, but it would not let me. I like it use it to keep tract of appointments, my care, and test results. All I can see is information that has been imported from before I moved to Mount Vernon. I like to be active in my care The portal is of no use to me at this time.

In KCH ER at the moment, been here 2 days most of the staff are good at there jobs. Haven't been offered a meal yet, and one supposed doctor got all upset because I wanted to go out and have a smoke. Now I know you're not supposed to smoke at KCH .SO she seems to be keeping the pain meds from me on her shift.they don't answer call lights they just turn them off from the nurses station.

If at all possible go to OSU. We waited over 3 1/2 hours in the hallway! And still didn’t actually see a Doctor. Just nurses. I took my son there. They ran tests on him, asked him personal questions all in the damn hallway. No privacy what so ever. Then they told us they didn’t know. They couldn’t give us a diagnosis. We actually could have driven the hour to OSU because he wasn’t seen any sooner and would have more than likely got a diagnosis. Which isn’t surprising last year I went there twice and their urgent care and was repeatedly told they didn’t know. Again I NEVER saw a doctor. I ended up in the hospital with complications from a rare disease the nurses had never seen before. Maybe a doctor might have. It became very very serious. Had I been properly treated it might not have gone so far. I was in the hospital for 3 days and it was my worst experience ever in a hospital. The blankets and sheets are paper thin, you freeze at night, not that it matters they are waking you up every hour. My main nurse was not very nice and made it even more miserable for me. Today most of them were nice except one we dealt with was rude and dismissive of my concerns. She didn’t want to seem to hear them. I’m his mother I damn sure have valid concerns and they shouldn’t be ignored. The thing of it is that there is no other hospital around here. So if you have to go there pray. All that money they spent on a remodel and people are sitting in the damn hallway. It sure didn’t make it any better. Worse actually. They think it makes it ok for people to be in the hallway taking test and answering personal questions. Why do they even worry about HIPPA when the let everyone in the hallway and near by rooms hear everything?
