Hospice is such an amazing gift! Although there is much that hospice doesn't do. Please only work with a hospice that values Death Doulas enough to have at least one paid trained doula on staff. In my case, the social services aspect of the Southeastern's Hospice Care, was incredibly lacking. A Death Doula absolutely would have helped to bridge that gap. Please educate yourself! Hospice is in place to educate the family and caregiver, but that also often gets lost in the mix. Doula Givers offers free training for caregivers and is an incredible resource to fill in the gaps.
