If this review was solely for the hospice house itself I would give it 5 stars. The nurse, aide and rest of the staff took wonderful care of my mom during the last few days of her life. For that my family and I are extremely grateful. However, after she passed my brother and his family who my mom lived with for many years were in dire need of bereavement services. She has been gone for a little over a month and no one has ever returned my call asking for bereavement services. I left two voicemails and talked to someone a third time who told me my brother would have to reach out for bereavement that they couldn’t force these services on family members. I explained I was simply making the call for him that nothing would need to be “forced”. I have worked for a hospice and know this is absolutely false. Bereavement services are a REQUIREMENT for up to 13 months. The hospice I worked for followed up with family after the death and then at 3,6 and 9 months. I couldn’t even get a return phone call. If a hospice can not run properly on all levels it should not remain open for business.

When my 83 yr old MaMa took ill with a couple of severe complications that left her in a lot of pain & discomfort staying in the hospital, as she continued her stay with little or no progress Our Family quickly made arrangements and decisions that had to be made asap to ensure her comfort and peace. This Hospice Care Facility opened my eyes wide and left us with a comforting feeling that Our MaMa was extremely happy, at peace, in comfy bed and she even had her favorite jams THANK YOU THE ENTIRE STAFF OF THE POCONOS LOCATION FOR TAKING SUCH EXCELLENT CARE OF MY MAMA

Please do your research on the differences between hospice organizations for your loved one's sake. While there are several kind employees working at LV Pocono Hospice, and the respite house is a nice facility, this agency is driven by and makes its decisions based on the bottom line ($) and not the best care/support options for its patients. My mother was on service for six months and the service never adapted (15 minute visits with the nurse twice a week and a once a week visit from once of the two total CNAs on staff who had to service over 40 patients). I was the sole caregiver at home, doing everything alone with extremely little support and as my mother's cancer progressed, I was instructed to hire (out of pocket), more support to ensure she was clean and comfortable. Thankfully I discovered another agency that changed our lives and gave my mom right from the start daily CNA care (including things like weekly music and massage therapy that I did not at all expect). They went above expectations and spared no expense to ensure my mom had the best end of life experience she could have ever dreamed of considering the terrible circumstances cancer sadly bestows. If you find yourself caring for someone who needs hospice and you love your loved one as much as I loved my mom, know that there are agencies out there that are still putting care before profits. You just may need to do your research to find them. Not all hospices are created equal.
