Had you asked me this question a few months ago, my rating would be completely different. My mother was discharged 8 days ago. I called Bellcoa five days later since we had not heard from anyone and was told they hadn't received a referral. The woman said she'd call the hospital. I also called and left a message with the hospital case worker. Three days after that, I called the case worker again to confirm he'd sent the referral. The Bellcoa rep said they didn't get a referral. At this point, I was extremely frustrated. Because as the discussion continued, the rep said she DID talk to case worker on. And now there is no room for my mother. Then I became angry because if she talked to case worker three days ago but still "doesn't have a referral", how was determination made there is no room. And at what point, do I as the patient's caregiver find out we STILL don't have home health care? Whose responsibility is it - I don't coordinate patient care! I have a full time job. More importantly, what do people without strong advocates do when they are dropped between the cracks? Remind you, it's now eight days post hospital discharge. When does the patient's health become important in all this? We've used this agency probably at least a year in the past. While we've had scattered issues here or there, nothing that couldn't be remedied.

Very poor nursing care. Twice I asked her to check something, ear and stiff neck. Both times I needed medical intervention, once emergency care. Also, she told me when she was coming, no matter how inconvenient. She even pushed to come while I was getting ready for a medical appt/testing. The PTs were contract and very good.
