Yet another family, and child, failed by your company. What an absolute terrible experience dealing with numerous emails, denial letters, and responses so delayed, that they were weeks old responses to items that were denied via a mailed letter. Imagine the US post office sending a letter quicker then someone responding to an email. Three months in, and still FIVE open claims.

My daughter was seriously injured in April 2019 while in the care of the Boys & Girls Club. She lost her three front teeth and suffered a broken jawbone. Since then, we have been through years of pain and suffering — physically, emotionally, and mentally. She has lived without teeth since the accident, endured constant bullying, depression, and even suicidal thoughts, to the point where I had to homeschool her to protect her mental health. Despite me submitting all required forms multiple times and following up consistently for years, Health Special Risk has done absolutely nothing to help or cover the expenses they were responsible for. We’ve been ignored, delayed, and dismissed while my child continues to suffer the consequences of an injury that should have been addressed immediately. This company has failed a child and failed a family. It is heartbreaking that my daughter’s future and mental health have been damaged while this insurance provider continues to avoid accountability. If I could give zero stars, I would.

Terrible experience. Submitted all my paperwork after a month HSR approved but issued payment to my provider instead of me even though I provided the receipt showing I already paid my provider. Now after two months I am still in limbo and not reimbursed $2000. Good luck dealing with these people.

I have been dealing with this company since April. I feel like the ratings speak for themselves. Unfortunately, my experience has been the same. No response and when they do, it is just a way to extend payment of the claim. My son broke his arm for the second time in a year at school in football. The first time, we did not file a claim with HSR. After a second break requiring surgery, we did. HSR is only secondary coverage. Meaning they only pay what your insurance does not. In this case our deductible. We are asking for reimbursement of our deductible and it has been like pulling teeth. Now, we are being sent to collections. This insurance has been very disappointing. Especially for a company that only pays after your person insurance does. Still in the process. Will update review if anything changes with how our claim is handled. It is not looking promising.
