My sister had a serious, life-threatening stroke. She was taken to MedStar in a very bad condition. The doctors estimated that she had minutes before she would have passed. They performed an emergency craniotomy to release the pressure from the hemorrhage in the brain. When I was able to visit her the next day, she was able to move her limbs and talk. That was remarkable considering the kind of stroke she had suffered. I attribute it in large part to the medical staff and excellent care she received at MedStar. There is always an element of luck in such cases. I am grateful that the luck was in her favor, too. She underwent another successful brain surgery after three weeks. I was really impressed with the medical team again. We have visited the hospital twice after her discharge for follow ups. The doctor answered our questions and explained everything in a very down to earth and easily understandable language. I think MedStar is an asset to our country for the kind of expertise they have.
