Bad experience with dietary accommodation because of medical conditions. Tried speaking with kitchen manager, Moseley about the situation several times in the last year & no resolution. When I bring anything to the attention of anyone else in the department I’m met with arrogance, ignorance (towards the medical conditions)& aggression. Meal plans are enforced by the community, so at this point we’re paying for meals that cannot be eaten. We’re not the only people having this problem within the community. Besides that, long lines & only 1/2 elevator working because the other one has been broken since July 1,2025- to this date limited parking for everyone. As a senior community this is a safety hazard in case of emergencies. Please consider all the downsides to all of this if you want to move in. We are open to working with Ethel community, if only they were open to working with us.

Older lady at the front desk of building # 7410 is very rude and mouthy. How can someone like that work at a retirement home assisting people with family and generally questions? That’s a shame. I would never bring my family to that retirement home because of her attitude alone.

I have lived at Greenspring for three years and everyday I'm thankful that I made this decision. I have a beautiful apartment, lots of new friends, 200 different clubs and groups to choose from for recreational and learning outlets, and good food I don't have to make! How can this be bad!

My parents moved to Greenspring in 2018, and I'm grateful they did. I felt Greenspring did everything possible to keep residents safe during the coronavirus pandemic, and have done an amazing job vaccinating residents and staff. The staff are unfailingly kind. Their apartment is very nice, and they were able to keep their two cats. So far the only gap I've seen is that they don't really have services for middle stage dementia. My mother is too far gone for their excellent day program, which is geared towards early memory loss. It won't work for us, because residents can leave the activity whenever they want to, and the ratio of staff to residents is too low. On the other hand, she's not yet in bad enough shape to require a transition to Memory Care. The ideal solution would be some kind of adult day care service where they would keep Mom safe for part of the day so that Dad could have a break, so that she could remain in her home a little while longer. We would happily pay extra for that. But this is a temporary problem - as Mom declines, I'm sure Memory Care is around the corner, and I'm confident the care there will be very good. We did try Home Service visits, but they kept sending different people, which was stressful for both my parents. Another challenge is the lack of two-bedroom Assisted Living apartments. If they had those, my parents would have already moved to AL. An under-utilized but fantastic resource are their social workers. I'm in frequent contact with their social worker, who has helped us navigate many challenges with my mother's care, and understand how Greenspring services work. I would highly recommend Greenspring, but when visiting, make sure to think into the future and visit the assisted living facilities. It's easy to get caught up by the lovely Independent Living apartments & amenities, but that stage doesn't last forever.
