Couldn’t have asked for a better support team. These angels guided me on how to make my mom’s transition at home as peaceful and as comfortable as possible. I spent many nights on the phone with different RNs (calling every other hour), many visits to the pharmacy and many sleepless nights. Consistently I was reminded by this team of how good of care we were providing to my mom, and that meant a lot. My mom was only on hospice for 6 days, but they got so much accomplished for us in less than a week. Supplies delivered, meds delivered (1st time), hospital bed delivered, 6 RN visits, 6 social worker visits, countless conversations with the team, a bath, a massage, hours worth of conversation, training and advice given, but most of all, their encouragement and knowledge to accomplish what my mom wanted, to die at home comfortably and peacefully, with her family surrounding her. She got exactly that. Thank you to everyone involved in her care.

The Multicare Hospice team that guided us through our mom's last 12 days was a great fit for her circumstances, and our personalities meshed beautifully. From other people's experience I've heard, this is a factor. I followed their advice regarding her care, and used the 24/7 phone line for advice when I lost my confidence. These people were a godsend. Respectful, caring, and they went out of their way several times to make extra visits as needed, or to talk on the phone. They never seemed like they had anywhere else to be but with us. I have no regrets about my mother's final days. I'm lucky, but the Hospice Team smoothed our path every step of the way.

The care team that we had was top tier! Each and every health care practitioner was skilled, provided patient-centered, customized care with our loved one's personality and comfort in mind, and were all very very kind. All the home hospice provisions we needed were provided in a timely manner and we never had difficulties reaching the main office of MultiCare or our hospice care team. (Our loved one had MediCare with C added.) The hospice care providers extended immeasurable comfort to our mother, and to our family, during a sad time in our lives and they made this difficult life experience less challenging. I highly recommend MutliCare for your hospice needs.

Very poor experience with assigned Hospice nurse. My mom reported that she didn't think the nurse was listening to her. I was able to confirm my mom's frustration when I returned home to try and help. I tried to share with the same nurse the changes we saw in my dad over the past 3 days and instead of compassion or collaboration the nurse became defensive. The nurse failed to take our observations seriously and failed to support my step father as the conversation escalated and he became agitated. I believed that Hospice workers were highly trained and that they would have well developed people skills, enabling them identify how best to communicate and validate patient and caregiver concerns. This was not the case, despite my mom reaching out to the caseworker and my call to the chaplain, no one addressed the family concerns. It appears that this nurse is used to taking advantage of frail, elderly and passive patients and caregivers. Be careful in your hospice choice, support your family and do not be ignored.
