I am so pleased with Whitney, my husband's hospice CNA through Eden Health. I am handicapped as well, and she is so helpful for both of us. She is so kind and gentle. She humors him a lot. She cleans the shower when he showers. When he doesn't, she bathes him. She changes the sheets once a week. She carries the laundry downstairs and puts them in the washing machine. We are so thankful for her. She is a prize. Thank you.

Destini, a ahower aid, is absolutely wonderful with my ninety-one year old mother. She sings with mom to distract her during the shower — and that is the way to my mother’s heart. Mom loves her. She does a beautiful job cleaning her too. We are very pleased with her work and cheerful, kind attitude.

Sharing the good and the bad, hoping to help anyone in the delicate position of coordinating end-of-life hospice care for a loved one (mom, in our case). If not for certain individuals at Eden, this would be a 2-star review at best. The good: Kathy (chaplain) was marvelous; mom loved her, she made herself available to everyone involved, and wanted to help in any capacity she could. Whitney (bath aide) was wonderful for mom; she said she loved her job and it showed. Charmaine, Rosey and Malvic (nurses) were all excellent, and brought expertise we definitely needed. And Sam was diligent in making sure an error on mom’s death certificate (made by someone else) was corrected. For Eden itself, my understanding is it’s one of few, or perhaps the only organization that can handle the Death With Dignity/Medical Aid in Dying qualification process from beginning to end, and our experience with that was efficient and smooth. The bad: The team approach meant a lot of new faces showing up at a time when mom really wanted calm and peacefulness, and this might be the case with any hospice team, but our efforts to reduce the stress on mom through better communication/coordination with Eden proved surprisingly difficult. There is no “my chart” or equivalent system to show an overall calendar of upcoming appointments, and several visits were just a surprise, including substitutes when our primary folks were out. And there was no use of “out of office” messages to let us know who we should call for help instead of waiting for hours or days for a call back. We had a particularly challenging time with our social worker, including simple things like scheduling a time for a visit or a call, vs. just showing up or playing phone tag indefinitely. Lastly, despite mom’s terminal cancer being the reason she came to Eden and went through its DWD/MAiD process, Eden incorrectly listed “late effects of stroke” (which happened 8 years prior) as the cause of death on her death certificate, noting her cancer under Other Contributing Conditions along with things like “hypertension” - an error that required numerous calls/emails and an extra week to resolve, all while processing the loss and managing the many details that come with this difficult time. Scheduled visits, using out-of-office messages, and including the correct cause of death on the death certificate all seem like basics, and low-hanging fruit if Eden management is looking for ways to improve their customer experience.

Thank you to my mother's whole care team. Charmaine, Carey, Amber, Rian, Dana, and Kathy. So much respect and caring from everyone. You helped me breathe through such a horrible ordeal. I don't have enough words to express my gratitude.

Within 10 minutes of getting a hospice referral from our case manager at OHSU ( we hadn’t even accepted Eden at this time just reaching out to different companies to see what the options were for discharge) , an employee named Sarah reached out to my 82year old mother even though I was the point of contact. She took it upon herself to order all the equipment with my mom and create a whole lot of confusion to our discharge plan as we are already going through a lot putting my father on hospice. This seemed very aggressive, scammy and even our case manager had never experienced someone to do this. The confusion and phone calls continued into the next day to my mom as she is already living a nightmare they had to create some drama and chaos for us. We did not use this company because of their tricky and forceful ways to try and get our business. The rep also told my mom we had to discharged today and that the hospital wants my dad’s bed. This was not true as the hospital was already working with our discharge plan of 2 more days here.
